Important procedures for seed shifting from nursery pond to growout for vannamei.....

Hello everyone:
Today we will see about the important procedures must be followed at the time of seed shifting from nursery to growout.
Nowadays most of the farmers doing nursery management for vannamei either it may be an biofloc Or earthern nursery...

Focus at the time of shifting....
Culturing at the nursery is an one task and another important task is about shifting the reared seed without stress....
1. Distance from nursery to growout..
The pond construction must be properly done. The nursery pond you selected must be present at the mid of all ponds. It facilitates the easy transportation and reduces stress.

2. Stress test....
Before 2 to 3 days of shifting, you have to place the seed to the growout pond in hapa and check the animal status at 6-12 hrs of regular intervals.
If the animal not passed in these pond stress test, the you have to postpone the shifting and check shrimp condition.

3. Water quality for the shifting pond..
The water quality for the growout pond must be taken before 2-3 days. Analyse the minerals ratio, alkalinity and early morning pH ranges... And correct it to optimum ranges.

4. Shrimp condition at the time of shifting...
Don't do shifting at the time of moulting times like amavasa, ashtami.
Don't to shifting, if the adjacent farms were infected with any type of disease.
It is better to shift at the time of intermoult stage of the shrimp. Because, premoult and postmoult stages shifting may leads to stress and chance for any mortality.

5. Check for the white gut, white muscle , muscle cramps...
The seed must be checked deeply for the above symptoms. Sometimes white muscle patches at the time of shifting is very common.

6. Make sure the availability of minerals in shifting water...
The toxic metals must be removed and try to ensure the minerals availability in the growout pond. Because, at the time of shifting there is an chance for stress moulting, when the shrimp in stress it will fastly involves in osmoregulation process... So ensure the minerals availability.

7. Comparing water quality...
Compare the water quality for the nursery and growout ponds for last three days before of shifting. Try to confirm the pH fluctuations between the nursery and growout pond must be not more than 0.2-0.3. Water quality comparison is more important in shifting. Salinity and pH is very very important at the time of shifting.

8.  Using antioxidants and oxygen enhancing products.
At the time of shifting, the water must be enhanced with more oxygen. If your shifting by small tanks then it must have aerator and make the DO level more than 5 ppm. Don't put more shrimps in single bucket or trough..

9. Reduce the feed at the day of shifting...
Many other methods available on shifting and it is modified based on farmer satisfaction.
The time of shifting must be in only early morning times... Sunlight will causes stress  and changes the water quality parameters. So try to avoid sunlight.
Many farmers using cast net in earthern system at the time of shifting. Some persons using drag net in small tanks. It is preferred by farmers only...

Don't wait for the good time at shifting...it causes some problems to the shrimp.. Don't delay at the time of shifting..
