Supplier of Bioactive Compounds - Yeast.

Hello everyone:
Today we will see about interesting facts about the use of yeast in shrimp farming.

Yeast:
Yeast is a unicellular. It has various qualities of usage in shrimp farming. Yeast produces various bioactive compounds which are helpful for digestion, absorption, development of immunity, growth etc..

Different uasge by farmers:
Nowadays, Farmers from Tamilnadu using yeast in different ways. Somebody using with probiotics, somebody using with prebiotics and probiotics..

Comparing to environmental use, yeast have good effect on shrimp when we using as a feed supplement.

# Compounds from yeasts such as glucans, mannan oligosaccharides, cell wall, nucleotides have good effect on shrimp.
It also producing the various digestive enzymes used for digestion such as amylase chitinase, phytase, protease etc...
Glucans from yeasts increasing the shrimp immunity by increasing the number of circulating hemocytes.

Yeast have any negative effects?
It don't have any negative effect on shrimp health and their environment. But some prokaryotic bacteria can able to transfer the plasmids and causes negative effect to the organism. Yeast don't have any negative effects.

Some of important compounds such as vacuolar protease, serine, aspartyl metalloprotease also produced by yeast.

Interesting fact!!
Yeast also helps to remove the toxic metabolites from the gut of the host.
Yeast increases the height of microvilli in gut. It increases the absorption area and leads to increase the feed intake.

The compounds from the yeast also stimulates the other immunostinulants of the shrimp body. In general some yeast species present in the gut microflora. Various species of Candida, Debaryomyces, Saccharomyces can help to increase the survival, growth of the Shrimp.

Important fact...
It provides best defence against vibrio species in host. We all know about lysozyme. It is an important one for developing innate immunity. Yeast also increase the lysozyme production and increase innate immunity of the host.

The nucleotides of the yeast fullfill the need of nucleotides required by immune system at the time of immune response.

These are the various uses of yeast as a feed supplement or as a feed additive.
                          Thank you..
