Commercially farming shrimp species:

Thailand had a good records on shrimp production and export until the occurance of EMS. Penaues vannamei is the primary species farmed in thailand. After the occurance of EMS in 2012, there is a sudden drop in the shrimp production. Farmers are unable to identify the reason for the disease and the mortalities are higher in the earlier stages. Production details:

Thai shrimp industry hit hard by the outbreaks that backened the country's shrimp production. The industry started to recover from that scenario but the globe trade obligations adds additional downfall for the industry. Operational cost for shrimp production in thailand seems to be high compared to the other farming countries. Also the fluctuations in the price of shrimp make the farmers to sell at lower price for export. One of the advantage is that, certain percent of the shrimp production is processed for domestic consumption in thailand.A Report By Tridge Market Intelligence Analytics said that Recent production recorded at 2022 was 280 thousand metric tonnes of shrimp, still it can't reach its peak production at the time of 2009-2010.
