Importance of temperature in metabolism of shrimp.
Hello everyone:
Today we will see about how temperature affects the body metabolism.
Why food is so important?
You all are know that every organism needs energy for their activities such as movements, muscle activity, chemical processes, biological processes which takes place inside of the animal. For this daily activity shrimp get energy mainly from the food with the various composition of protein, carbohydrates, lipids.
Energy also used to maintain the body fluids in equilibrium condition. For these all process, food supplies the energy.
Shrimp is an cold blooded animal. It's body temperature depends on the surrounding environment. If the temperature in surrounding increases, it will increase the metabolic rate of the body. If the temperature in surrounding decrease, it will decrease the metabolic rate of the body. So, we have to maintain optimum temperature for the better growth.
Metabolism:
Metabolism is the sum of all chemical reactions which occurs in the body. By this process an organism get their energy for survival. Heat is the byproduct which is produced by this process and this heat will also influence the metabolic rate of the body.
Anabolism: Storage of energy as a protein, fat and carbohydrates.
Catabolism: Free energy for growth and work.
If the intake energy 100%means , 25%of the energy goes as a faeces energy and 8% is goes to urinary and gill excretion. In that 33% will go as a heat energy and remaining 34% only retained in the body of an organism.
So based on the dietary requirements we have to properly give food to the organism. All chemical reactions is influenced with the help of enzymes. These enzymes also functions based on the temperature range in the environment.
Temperature and kinetic energy:
Heat increases the metabolic rate of an organism by increasing the amount of kinetic energy that is available to the cells. Kinetic energy is associated with the moving objects.
Cells uses two types of energy :
- Potential energy.
- Kinetic energy.
Kinetic energy:
In cells, energy required to shuffle the electrons to form a stable bond. Energy required for this process called kinetic energy. If the temperature increases means this reaction also increases. Then the animal requires high energy so it takes some extra food.
This is the reason why shrimps takes less food during winter and rainy times and shrimp takes high food during summer.
Temperature increases - Increases the kinetic energy of the cells - then increase the metabolic rate- then organism needs high energy.
Optimum temperature range does not affect the metabolism and feed intake of an organism.
Thank you!
