Reduction of shrimp feed price in India- Apr 2025

Hope you are doing well, for the past few years Indian aquaculture industry facing lot of ups and downs and it significantly affected many lives which depend on the industry by directly and indirectly. However, the shrimp farming industry had a setback in the last six months. The increased farm gate price (compared to previous years) for shrimp makes the farmers secure their returns. But now the increased tariffs from the US made the Indian aquaculture industry at risk. The US is the key player in importing Indian shrimps in greater percentage. The new tariffs add a burden to the Indian exporters.


Recently, Shrimp feed companies in India announced the reduction of their feed price by Rs.4.00 per kg of P.vannamei and P.monodon feed. This will help the farmers to continue the crops in the upcoming months.

Devi sea food limited says; The current global business scenario over the past few days has added to the challenges we are already facing. we understand the difficulties faced by the industry and especially by our valued shrimp farmers, we decided to reduce the MRP of our shrimp feed by Rs.4.00/kg effect from 12th April 2025.

Avanti feeds limited says; In view of the present imposition of reciprocatory tariff by the US on import of shrimp from India, we decided to reduce their cost of production by reducing feed cost from the MRP of Rs.4.00 per kg for shrimp feed.

Sandhya marines limited says; To support our farmers in this challenging situation, we reduce the feed cost of Rs.4.00 per kg from the MRP with effect from 12th April 2025

Other companies like CPF(INDIA) Pvt Ltd and M/S Deepak  Nexgen Feeds Pvt Ltd also announced the price reduction of their feed products by Rs.4.00 per kg of feed with effect from 12th April 2025.


This is a huge announcement for farmers. Recent situation is a eye-opening moment for the Indian aquaculture industry to know its potential of the domestic market and this incident is an example of how may the situation happens with dependency of single market. Species diversification, domestic consumption, market exploration are the keys to sustain in future. Hope the current tensions get normal and also many more initiations may arise in promoting shrimp consumption.
