Gut microbiome of vannamei - Interesting facts.
Hello everyone:
Aquaculture is an important growing sector. Penaeus vannamei is the commonly cultured species around the world. But farmers facing more challenges to achieve the profitable production.
Various outer factors leads to failure of crop..
1. Misunderstandings of farmers.
2. Unqualified technicians.
3. Getting Influenced by other people.
Gut microbiome:
It plays an important role in the growth and survival of the animal. The colonisation of microorganisms in the gut is limited. There will be an heavy competition occurs for exclusions.
Gut microbiome can impact the growth of the organism by modifying the gut enzymatic activity.
Host deterministic effect will reduce the bacterial colonies in the gut.
Another important fact is, gut microbiota is distinct from the rearing water.
Selection of probiotics:
The gut health is maintained by the microbiota present in the gut. We have to maintain by application of prebiotics or probiotics or synbiotics to the host.
The mixed species also results in the dysbiosis of the gut ( irregular colonisation of microbiota).
When the dysbiosis occurs then the harmful pathogens causes various disease to the host.
Selection of probiotics must be specific and indigenous.
Selection of specific strain:
The selection of different non indigenous probiotics will cause stochastic effect on the gut microbiota of the shrimp.
Those species can't able to proliferate well. Gut of the shrimp is very limited ( space and source of food).
Scientists observed that ,specific strains of probiotics will give positive effect on growth and survival of the animal. If the gut is occupied by the harmful pathogens then these specific starins will eliminate and recover the host gut.
We can maintain the gut health by application of prebiotics such as oligosaccharides and probiotics of specific strains.
Or we can maintain the gut microbiota by synbiotics supplementation.
Maintanence of environment is an important factor.
The environment must be free from disease causing pathogens. The environment must present with the beneficial microorganisms.
Use of unnecessary prebiotics must be avoided.
